OUGD602 Email to Outside The Box (Brief Two)

Below is the email that I sent to Outside The Box. It reads:

Hello!
My name is Amelia Bramwell and I’m a student currently in my third year at Leeds College of Art studying graphic design. Outside The Box was recommended to me by a friend and I instantly fell in love with the style of work!
I was wondering if by any change you offer internships to students? I would absolutely love to get some experience in your design studio.
You can check out some of my previous work here:
Thank you for your time, I hope to hear back from you soon!

For this particular studio, I decided it would be best not to include the animation of my own logo design, as I don't think the company would really approve of self-branding, as it is apparent that they only want their company name to be used; no other names are used on the website.

OUGD602 Outside The Box (Brief Two)

Outside The Box is a creative advertising and marketing company based in Headingley in Leeds. I came across this design studio through a friend who was looking for marketing jobs and came across this studio. The studio is very corporate and it is clear from the website that it is a big company with lots of people within it.

Although this studio doesn't really have a similar style to my own, I thought it would still be good to try to get in contact and get an internship or studio visit.

OUGD602 Email to Future (Brief Two)

Below is the email that I sent to Future. It reads:

Hello!
My name is Amelia Bramwell and I’m a student from Warrington currently in my third year at Leeds College of Art. I came across your work when searching local design studios and instantly fell in love! I particularly enjoy your packaging design for Crushed!
I was wondering if by any chance you offer internships to students? I would absolutely love to get some experience in your design studio.
You can check out some of my previous work here:

Thank you for your time, I hope to hear back from you soon!

OUGD602 Future Design (Brief Two)

The next studio I found that I liked was called Future. This studio is also Warrington-based, however I like this company for a different reason than Diagram; Future creates very slick, clean and corporate design. This studio is a lot different from other corporate work that I have seen, as it is clear that they still enjoy using very bright, bold colours and iconography.

I am going to email this studio and see if I could potentially get an internship or studio visit.

OUGD602 Email to Diagram (Brief Two)

Below is my email to Diagram. It reads:

Hello!
My name is Amelia Bramwell and I’m a student from Warrington currently in my third year at Leeds College of Art. I came across your work last year when I received a Revolution 'I Love Vodka' poster and instantly fell in love with the design style. I have been looking ever since for the creators, and I've finally found you!
I was wondering if by any chance you offer internships to students? I would absolutely love to get some experience in your design studio.
You can check out some of my previous work here:

Thank you for your time, I hope to hear back from you soon!

I will update the blog if I get a response.

OUGD602 Diagram Design Studio (Brief Two)

Diagram is a design studio based in Warrington. I came across this agency when looking into studios that are local to me; this one came up as I was looking into studios around Liverpool, Manchester and anywhere in-between. This particular studio stood out to me due to their bold icons and use of colour. I've never seen a studio use so many colours (other than Studio Moross) and I think it's really inspiring.

I have also recently discovered a love for iconography, so this studio really stood out to me. I am going to email them and see about potentially getting an internship or studio visit.

OUGD602 Personal Branding (Brief One)

This is my personal branding from first year. When presenting to the class, it became apparent that this wasn't a good logo design as it reminded the class of something else, I won't say what. I originally thought it was successful, however hearing this I decided to change the idea completely in second year.

This is the logo design that I came up with in second year. It's a lot more successful as it is clear that it represents my initials a lot more than the previous design. However, looking at it with fresh eyes as a third year it is clear to me that the logo design still needs a little bit of work, as the gap between both letterforms isn't even and therefore wouldn't rescale very well. I don't really know how I didn't notice this in second year.

This is my revised logo design. It's based on the exact same shape as the logo design I came up with in second year, however it is altered so that it is a lot more clean and minimal, and it will now rescale perfectly. I also made sure that the logo design was measured out perfectly, for example the bottom of the 'A' is on a 45 degree angle, which I aimed for last year but didn't quite know how to make, so I just guessed. This year I realised how to do this perfectly, so this is a new addition to my logo design. I think the logo design is really successful. It's clean, modern and minimal and I think it really shows the style of design that I like to create - I enjoy focusing on negative space and creating really minimal designs.

OUGD602 Live Website (Brief One)

My Squarespace website is now live!

ameliabramwell.com

I have included my work, which are all click-through links to more images of the work, an about page and a contact page. I'm really proud of this website and I think it's definitely an investment that will pay off. It also means that I can now email studios about getting an internship and look a lot more professional, which is always an added bonus.

OUGD602 - Website on Squarespace (Brief One)

I think it's important that I not only have a Behance that is up to date, but I also keep a website up to date. To do this, I am going to get a Squarespace as this is a website that creates websites specifically for creative people, as it is owned by Adobe. I have a 14 day free trial, in which I can edit and upload the contents that I want on my website, and then I can upgrade to make my website go live. Having worked this out, it will come to around 80 pounds for the year, including a domain name. This is quite expensive for myself as a student, however I think it's definitely worth doing as it is a lot more professional than Behance and will be good for sharing my work for the world to see, as I can link it all over my social media platforms.

Here is the editing site with all of my work added. This took an awfully long time to do, however I think this is just because I was adding all of my portfolio, and it would be a lot quicker adding one project at a time as soon as it is completed.

OUGD602 Dr Me Workshop (Brief Two)

Today the design studio Dr Me came in to speak to us about their collages, and then set us a brief in which to create a publication using the collaging technique. This was a task that I really struggled with as I generally prefer to work digitally as I find it a lot more forgiving and easier to experiment, however I did eventually create a publication that I'm really quite proud of. I decided to create a small zine about myself, entitled 'designer with a c***'. The zine was also a reflection upon feminism, as I am currently doing my COP dissertation on feminism and I'm discovering a lot about myself through this.

OUGD602 Behance (Brief One)

Here is my behance all set up now that I have looked through all of my work and selected what to upload. I'm really happy with this, and will be adding my work from third year to it as I go as uploading it all at once was a bit of a hassle.
